A maxi makes me happy

I would like to thank the person that brought maxi skirts/ dresses into my life.

Whoever you are...THANK YOU

A maxi makes me happy
I can't wear jeans to work (major bummer). I wear a lot of skirts and on a rare occasion  I bust out the pants . So when I am in a MAJOR laid back mood and have no interest in dressing up; I wear a maxi and get compliments on my outfit almost every time. Little do they know, I put no thought what so ever into my outfit.

Today's outfit is a perfect example of something that I would put on to go to the mall, work, girls night, and more.

Tips:
  • Pleated skirts can elongate the body
  • Chambray is very comfortable and very trendy right now
  • Neutral shoes will go with everything and perfect for any season
  • Bubble necklaces can add the perfect pop of color

So go shopping to find that perfect maxi skirt. You will be thanking me later!

Day to Night

When I know I have somewhere I need to go after work, my workday somehow seems to drag on and on and on. Am I the only one who gets this way?

I love my girls nights so much! The make me so happy.

I really get into knowing what I will wear for them, how I will do my makeup and where we are going. Let's face it, when I go out, I go all out!

Day to Night

But knowing that I have to work beforehand really does kill the mood. So I try to wear my normal work wear to go to work but I pay more attention to the accessories that I can can change out to make for an even better outfit.

During the day, I wear modest accessories and a blazer. The shoes are with a modest heel but they are still cute because of the pattern.

(insert fireworks and dazzling music)

But at night the jacket goes flying. Get rid of the modest/professional shoe purse combo and exchange them for a pop of color. I love the blue and yellow together. (I refuse to wear blue and orange. So don't even go there) Then add a dramatic lipstick like a dark red or a bright pink when spring rolls around.

Happy Monday!

Emerald City

This year, NO ONE has an excuse for getting pinched this year at St. Patricks day.

Introducing to you the new color of the year according to pantone....

Emerald City

Emerald is going to the be color you will see everywhere.

I am very excited to see just how many different ways they pull of this color. Shoes, bags, jewelry  and so much more.

Don't be intimidated by the color. This color will be great for mostly every skin tone, hair color (red heads especially) and very easy to pull off unlike tangerine tango. I mean like who can really pull off that color in a shirt without looking like salmon.

This green color will be perfect with gold accents. If you are afraid of the color and don't really want to buy a new green shirt or pants even for that matter, you can always look at colorful accessories.

Jewelry, shoes, bags, and scarfs are all perfectly acceptable to wear. One of my favorite stores to shop at for accessories is Charming Charlie's. They are exclusively known for selling bright colorful accessories that are great for any pocket book. If you hoard necklaces and earrings like I do, you will kiss the floor when you walk in. Trust me.

The Emerald city is not just for Dorthy any more kids!

Let it out

Who hasn't had a day where you want to veg on the couch with a bag of potato chips, watch reality tv in sweats?

Sounds like heaven to me.

But we all know that the can only happen once in every 209 days, to be exact.

So when we need to go out and look cute for work or for play, you can still look put together while not holding your stomach in for all of your life.

Let it out

Don't feel the need to always pair a flowy blouse with skinny jeans. You can wear wide leg jeans, a loose jacket and blouse if you look closely at proportions.

Be mindful when trying on clothes with this look in mind. Look for these characteristics in the clothing and you will be fabulous:

  • Pants should have a natural flare to the leg and shouldn't overwhelm your leg.
  • Look for tops with a pattern or detail to create visual interest.
  • Jackets should be cropped and 3/4 sleeves. This will show skin and help with your proportions so you don't look like a sack of fabric.
Don't feel guilty about eating the fries for lunch. No one will ever know.
