A Tribal Statement

I kind of obsessed with the new tribal trend.

It's official. I have a thing for bold prints. Who would have guessed?

Tribal clothing is very graphic. The colors can be rich in color with earth tones or black and white. The graphic prints are inspired by the textiles of Africa, India, and South America. The ideas of how women dressed in these cultures are interpreted and modernized for the fashionista of today.

Do you like this trend? Have you tried it yet?

My Hair Experiment

I am undergoing a hair experiment.

What kind you may ask?

Well one that makes me smell like my grandfather for one thing.

Since my post about my hatred for Garnier and how they discontinued my favorite shampoo, I have decided I am going to take control of my little dandruff problem.

Dandruff. Yes, I said it. Get over it.

It's either been really good or really bad. I am over it and ready to do something about it without involving a science experiment quality shampoo (cough cough Head and Shoulders).

Here is the plan.
  • Try to break the habit of not shampooing everyday. (This will be the hardest part as I have avoided shampooing my hair everyday for years.)
  • Listerine treatment as seen here. My head is soaking with Listerine as we speak. Sexy. (I am going to smell like my grandfather. I know I am. How lovely. NOT!)
  • Try a Tea Tree Oil shampoo and see if I notice a difference.
So there you have it. Keep your beautifully manicured fingers crossed as I try to win in Battle Dandruff.

Stay tuned for more to come.

Maternity Style: The Good, Bad and Ugly

Pregnant women are beautiful.

The bump is magical. It's a beautiful thing to be pregnant.

While I have never been pregnant, I love looking through maternity photos and seeing the hits and misses of maternity fashion.

Since the royal birth has officially commenced (NOT the Kardashian baby), I decided it was only appropriate to showcase the good, bad and ugly of maternity style.

The Good
Jackets and Coats. Fit well but have nice flow

The Bad
Too Baggy. No structure.

The Ugly
High Fashion doesn't work with maternity. Get new shoes.

A Colorful Summer

Say hello to a world of color!

A Colorful Summer

I have a closet full of black and fallish like colors. Dark or jewel tone is really what I look at when shopping. So on this bright and happy day in Florida, I broke out of my norm and tried to expand my new horizons.

Try to expand your current wardrobe with colorful pieces.

I am slowly but surely.

Bring home items one and a time so it's not that overwhelming. Mix and match them with your standby jeans.

If the idea of neon shorts scares the living daylights out of you, look into the wonderful world of accessories. I am a jewelry freak. I am constantly changing up my go to outfit with a new necklace, earrings, purse, scarf, or shoes. My favorite accessory stores are Charming Charlie's (aka the greatest store on planet earth), or Francescas. Both stores are sell clothes but the main attraction is the jewelry and colorful accessories.

While I am beyond ready for fall, I am excited to try to revamp the rest of my summer wardrobe.

Adventures in JcPenny's

Your mission should you choose to accept it...

Walk around JcP, JCP, Penny's, JcPennys, whatever the heck you are supposed to call that store that has the letters J C P E N N Y. Find the ugliest dress and try it on. Walk around the new JCP home shops. Wish you have lots of money to spend.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

My girl Jessie and I when out on girl's day adventure can be seen in a mall of some kind. (It's tradition to find a mall where ever we go.) We had just gotten mani/pedi's and had ZERO money to spend. We walked into all of our favorite stores including Francesca's (Best store EVER), Ulta, Loft, and Bath and Body Works.

We decided to go in Penny's. Walk around and in traditional fashion, make fun of all the ugly clothes that no person should be caught dead in. As we were looking around, I found a little piece of heaven in JCP and had to (HAD TO) get Jessie in it (at my discretion).

It was the funniest thing I have seen in a very long time.

First of all, why was their a wedding dress in the middle of clearance in JCP? When I get married, the first place I am going to go when I want to try on gowns is JCP. Cause that totally makes a lot of logical sense.

I was so excited when they announced that she was going to have a line in a department store that would be reasonable for everyone to shop at. But when really looking at the line, it is the oddest line ever. I'm sure that Pearl by Georgina Chapman did well around prom season in certain regions but that dress would never be bought in Altamonte Springs, FL, unless you are looking for a cheap wedding dress (on sale for $59). It would be a great dress but that fabric was so itchy and scratchy. Not cute.

The new home shops made me wish I lived in a house and could decorate until I went broke. Why does money make the world go round? #annoyed

It was such a fun day!

Happy 4th!

Happy Birthday America!

Time to celebrate with sun, food and fireworks.

Or in my case we went and spent the fourth with the Swiss in Ikea and then with the Italians at Olive Garden. CLASSY!

I love you America!
Happy 4th!

What is your favorite way to wear Red, White and Blue?!

Beauty Product Hoarder Diary: June favorites

It's that time again!

Time to think over the past month as to what has been your most used products.

  • Wet n Wild Fergie Eyeshadow Primer, For My Primas- This is the ONLY drugstore eyeshadow primer that WORKS. I swear, I have the hardest time removing my eyeshadow at the end of the day when I use this stuff. (Which is an awesome thing.) I only need a little dot to cover one eyelid. I never have to really touch up my eyeshadow during the day. Tip: Allow it a couple seconds to dry on your lid to set in place and then you can apply eyeshadow as you wish.
  • ELF Studio Blush, Pink Passion-  This has been my go to blush for a long time but because of this heat I have really been using it a lot more. I love the color and how brightly pigmented it is.
  • ELF Shimmering Facial Whip, Lilac Petal-  I first bought this a while ago when ELF products first appeared in Target (aka mecca). I thought this line has to be crap for this price. But boy, was I wrong. You cannot beat $1 for a facial highlighter. The perfect amount of shimmer and color plus it has a great fruity scent. Tip: use the small stipple brush to apply.
  • ELF Zit Zapper- I keep it by my nightstand next to my bed. When I ready to go to sleep, I run the roller ball all over my problem areas then all over my face. By the next morning, by skin looks 2x's better than it did when I went to bed.
  • Rimmel Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex Mascara-  Just all around awesome!
  • Revlon Colorstay Basecoat- I was introduced to this base coat by LaFemme5278 on YouTube. I don't use base coats on my nails. Number 1, I hated all the ones out there. Number 2, it was an annoying step. (I was already giving up who knows how much time to do them and let the dry why do I need to hassle with a step I always found unnecessary). I tried this with hesitation and was surprised. My nails do look better with a base coat. DARN IT!
  • John Frieda Curl-Boosting Mousse- I have been using this for years especially during the summer when I only heat style my hair one day a week. My hair is straight and has a little curl when I get out of the shower. I let my hair air dry and then get some mousse to scrunch in.
  • Dial NutriSkin Replenishing Lotion, Extra Dry Skin-  I am picky about my lotions. They can't leave my skin feeling greasy bottom line. I have a list of lotions I like and ones I don't. This is the number 1 favorite of lotions I like. I never have the urge to wash my hands after applying the lotion.
  • Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads- I use a regular makeup removing wipe to get rid of the majority of my makeup. I use these small makeup remover pads out of pure laziness. The thought of having to get out a cotton pad and put the remover on it. No. I like it already done for me. (College graduate right here.)
There you have it. My favorite things for the month of June. What were yours?
